Η Αγία Φωτεινή η Μεγαλομάρτυς η Σαμαρείτιδα

Η   Αγία   Μεγαλομάρτυς   Φωτεινή  καταγόταν από την Σαμαρειτική πόλη   Σιχάρ.   Τις   πρώτες   πληροφορίες   για   την   Αγία   τις   βρίσκουμε στο   Δ’   κεφάλαιο    του    κατά   Ιωάννη    Ευαγγελίου.

Κάθε   μεσημέρι   πήγαινε   έξω   από    την   πόλη,  στο   πηγάδι   το λεγόμενο του Ιακώβ, και γέμιζε την στάμνα της. Εκεί, μία ημέρα, συνάντησε τον Ιησού Χριστό, ο Οποίος φανέρωσε σε αυτήν όλη τη   ζωή της.   Ο    Κύριος  είπε  στην Αγία, ότι Αυτός είναι   «το   ύδωρ   το   ζων», δηλαδή   η   αστείρευτη πηγή του Αγίου Πνεύματος. Αυτό το «πνευμνατικό ύδωρ» έδωσε ο Κύριος στη Σαμαρείτιδα, η οποία βαπτίσθηκε   Χριστιανή   μεταξύ   των   πρώτων   γυναικών   της Σαμάρειας    και    ονομάσθηκε   Φωτεινή.

Από  τότε αφιέρωσε τον εαυτό της στην διάδοση του Ευαγγελίου στην Αφρική και στη Ρώμη. Εκεί έλαβε και μαρτυρικό θάνατο από τον αυτοκράτορα  Νέρωνα (54 – 68 μ.Χ.), όταν  αυτός έμαθε ότι η Αγία Φωτεινή  έκανε  Χριστιανές  την θυγατέρα του Δομνίνα και μερικές δούλες   της.       
Μαζί  με την Αγία  Φωτεινή  μαρτύρησαν οι  υιοί της  και   οι   πέντε αδελφές   της.

Χριστώ  συνομίλησας  επί  τω  φρέαρ σεμνή, και πίστιν  εισδέδεξαι,  την  προς αυτόν  ακλινώς, Φωτεινή  Ισαπόστολε·  όθεν  της ευσεβείας,  εφαπλούσα  το φέγγος, ήθλησας υπέρ φύσιν, συν   υιοίς   και   συγγόνοις· μεθ’    ών    απαύστως   πρέσβευε,  υπέρ  των   τιμώντων   σε.

Έτερον  Απολυτίκιον.   Ήχος    α’.  Της    ερήμου   πολίτης.       
Την πηγήν δεξαμενή της σοφίας και χάριτος,  εκ  χειλέων  Κυρίου  Φωτεινή Ισαπόστολε, νομίμως   ηγωνίσω   πανοικεί, και   νέμεις   φωτισμόν   παρά  Θεού, τοις προστρέχουσι   τη σκέπη   σου   τη   σεπτή, και  ευλαβώς βοώσί  σου.  Δόξα τω  δεδωκότι  σοι  ισχύν, δόξα τω σε στεφανώσαντι,   δόξα   τω    χορηγούντι  δια σου,  χάριν  ημίν  και  έλεος.

Του Χριστού της πίστεως, το φως εδέξω, και αυτού εκήρυξας, την παρουσίαν εν σαρκί, ω Φωτεινή Ισαπόστολε, και μαρτυρίου, αγώσι διέλαμψας.

Χαίροις  Ισαπόστολε Φωτεινή,  η  ζωής  το  ύδωρ,  δεξαμένη  παρά  Χριστού·   χαίροις   η   εν    Ρώμη,   αθλήσασα    ανδρείως,  συν  πάσι  τοις  οικείοις,   Χριστός   δοξάσασα.

Agia Fotini, the Great Martyr, the Samaritan

Aghia Megalomartis Fotini originated from the Samaritan city of Sikhar. The first information about the Saint is found in Chapter IV of John the Gospel.

Every afternoon he went out of the city, into the well called Jacob, and filled his pitcher. There, one day, he met Jesus Christ, Who revealed to her throughout her life. The Lord said to the Saint that He is "the living water", the inexhaustible source of the Holy Spirit. This "spiritual water" was given by the Lord to the Samaritan, who was baptized Christian among the first women of Samaria and was named Fotini.

Since then she has devoted herself to spreading the Gospel to Africa and Rome. There he received a martyrdom from Emperor Nero (54-68 AD), when he learned that Saint Photiini made Christians daughter of Domnina and some of her servants.
