Ο Άγιος Βάδιμος ο Οσιομάρτυρας

Ο   Άγιος    Βάδιμος    έζησε    κατά    τους    χρόνους    του    βασιλέως  της  Περσίας   Σαβωρίου  Β’ (325 – 379 μ.Χ.).  Ήταν  Πέρσης  και  καταγόταν  από  ευγενή    και πλούσια  οικογένεια  της  πόλεως  Βηθλαπάτης.  Αφού  καταφρόνησε   τη    δόξα   του    κόσμου    και    τα    πλούτη,   έγινε  μοναχός  και  έπειτα  αρχιμανδρίτης  και είχε  κοντά  του  επτά  μαθητές.  Επειδή  όμως  κήρυσσαν    τον    Χριστό,   καταγγέλθηκαν  ότι    αποσπούν    τους    Πέρσες    από    την    θρησκεία    των    ειδώλων    και     συνελήφθησαν.  Παρά   τις  πιέσεις  και  τα   βασανιστήρια  ο  Άγιος  Βάδιμος και  οι   μαθητές  του  ομολογούσαν  συνέχεια  με  παρρησία  και  ανδρεία  το Όνομα  του  Αγίου  Θεού.  Τότε  παρεδόθησαν    στον    δήμιο   Νηρσά,    ο    οποίος    με   το    σπαθί  του  θανάτωσε  τον  Άγιο  και  αποκεφάλισε  τους  μαθητές  του.

Saint Vadim the Omar Martyr

Saint Vadim lived during the times of the king of Persia, Sabbion II (325-379 AD). It was Persian and was descended from a noble and wealthy family of the city of Bethlepath. Having despised the glory of the world and the riches, he became a monk and then an archimandrite and had seven pupils close to him.
