Οι Άγιοι Νίκανδρος και Ερμαίος

Οι    Άγιοι   Νίκανδρος   και   Ερμαίος   ήταν   μαθητές   του   Αποστόλου Τίτου,   του   τόσο   αγαπητού    συνεργάτη   του   Αποστόλου   Παύλου.

Κήρυτταν   το   Ευαγγέλιο   με περίσσιο ζήλο   και   αφοσίωση.   Με   το κήρυγμά   τους   πολλοί   ειδωλολάτρες   πίστεψαν   την   μία   αληθινή πίστη  του   Ιησού   Χριστού.   Για   τον   λόγο   αυτό   καταγγέλθηκαν    στον   άρχοντα   της  πόλης,   τον   Λιβάνιο.   Παρουσιάστηκαν   υπό   της βίας   μπροστά   του   και   διακήρυξαν   την   αλήθεια   του    Ευαγγελίου.

Ο   Λιβάνιος   εξοργισμένος   διέταξε   τον   βασανισμό τους. Συγκεκριμένα   διέταξε   να   τους   ξεσκίσουν   τις   σάρκες   τους,   όμως με   την   βοήθεια   της   Θείας    Χάρης    οι   Άγιοι   θεραπεύτηκαν.   Το θαύμα  αυτό  αντί   να   συνετίσει   τον   άρχοντα, τον θύμωσε περισσότερο. Έτσι διέταξε το βασανισμό τους με πυρά και τον ενταφιασμό   τους    καθώς   ήταν   ζωντανοί  ακόμα.          
Με   αυτό   το   μαρτυρικό   τρόπο   παρέδωσαν   το   πνεύμά   τους   στον Κύριο.

Γνώσιν   ένθεον, καρποφόρησας, ως ομότροπος, των Αποστόλων, εν ιερεύσι  πιστός  εχρημάτισας·  και  μαρτυρίου   τοις   σκάμμασι   Νίκανδρε, συγκοινωνόν  τον   Ερμαίον   εκέκτησο·   μεθ’ ού   πρέσβευε,  Κυρίω   τω   σε   δοξάσαντι,   δωρήσασθαι   ημίν    το   μέγα  έλεος.

Των   ψυχών   την   άρουραν,   γεηπονούντες    τω  λόγω, μυστικώς ηνέγκατε, Χριστώ  αθλήσεως στάχυν· Τίτω γαρ, τω   θεηγόρω   μαθητευθέντες, ώφθητε, διδασκαλίας θεία πυξία, Νίκανδρε Ιερομάρτυς, συν   τω   Ερμαίω   λαμπρώς   αθλήσαντες.

Χάριν ειληφότες την θεουργόν, ταις χερσί   του  Τίτου,  τον   της   χάριτος φωτισμόν,   τοις   εσκοτισμένοις, πυρσεύετε τω λόγω, Νίκανδρε και  Ερμαίε,   Ιερομάρτυρες.

Saints Nicandros and Hermas

Saints Nicandros and Hermas were disciples of the Apostle Titus, the beloved associate of the Apostle Paul.

The Gospel was preached with extra zeal and devotion. By their preaching many pagans believed in the one true faith of Jesus Christ. For this reason they were reported to the lord of the city, Lebanon. They presented themselves with violence in front of him and proclaimed the truth of the Gospel.

The outraged Lebanese ordered their torture. He specifically ordered that their flesh be ripped off, but with the help of the Divine Grace the Saints were healed. This miracle, instead of drawing on the master, made him more angry. So he ordered their torment by fire and their burial while they were still alive.

In this witnessing way they delivered their spirit to the Lord.

The souls have lifted her up, cheering her on because, in secret, you are sporting Christ; Titus, the disciples of the goddess, you have been instructed, divine fox, Nicandre Hieromartyr, and the Hermitians brightly.

For the sake of the gods, the goddess of Titus, the illumination of grace, the enlightened ones, burn her because of it, Nicandre and Hermaeus, the martyrs.
