Η Αγία Λυγερή η Νεομάρτυς η Χιοπολίτις

Η    Αγία   νεομάρτυς   Λυγερή    η   Χιοπολίτις   γεννήθηκε   στις    αρχές  του   19^ου    αιώνος   στο   χωριό  Ανάβατος   της   Χίου.    Ανατράφηκε   με  τα   νάματα  της    ορθοδόξου   ημών   πίστεως,   ενώ    διακρινόταν    για  το   ψυχοσωματικό  της   κάλλος,   γεγονός   που   προκάλεσε  την   ερωτική   έλξη   του   Τούρκου   τυράννου.   Παρά   τις   υποσχέσεις   και   τις   πιέσεις  του   για   πλούτη   και    τιμές,   η   πάνσεμνος   Λυγερή έμεινε   σταθερή   στην  πίστη   της   και    αρνήθηκε   τον   γάμο   με   τον αλλόπιστο   Αγαρηνό.   Στις   6    Σεπτεμβρίου  1822,  ημέρα   εορτασμού  στον   Ανάβατο   Χίου   του   εν    Χώναις   θαύματος  του   Αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ,   κατέφθασαν   στο    χωριό  οι  ακόλουθοι  του  Τούρκου τυράννου.

Τότε   μέσα   στην    προκληθείσα    αναστάτωση  άρπαξαν   βίαια   και  παρά  την άρνησή της την  πάνσεμνο  Λυγερή  για  να   την   οδηγήσουν σ’αυτόν.    Στη   διαδρομή   η   Λυγερή   αγκάλιασε  με   όλη   της   τη  δύναμη  ένα  δένδρο,   διακηρύσσοντας  με   παρρησία   ότι   δεν   πρόκειται  να  αρνηθεί  τον Χριστό. Τότε  ένας  ακόλουθος  την  αποκεφάλισε  και   με   την  τιμία   της   κεφαλή   έφυγε   τρέχοντας   προς την  παραλία   Ελίντα,   όπου   περίμενε   ο    Τούρκος   τύραννος.   Από   το  αίμα   της αθληφόρου    νεομάρτυρος   χάραξε  η  μητέρα της στα παρακείμενα  βράχια   τρεις   σταυρούς,   εκ   των   οποίων  ο  ένας  έχει διασωθεί   μέχρι   σήμερα.

Ενθέως   ενήθλησας,  Παρθενομάρτυς  κλεινή,   αιμάτων  σου  ρεύμασι, της   αθανάτου   Ζωής,  το  Δένδρον   ποτίσασα.  Πίστει   γαρ   παριδούσα, ηδονάς  ψυχοφθόρους,  έῤῥηξας   του   βελίαρ,   τας  επάλξεις   θεόφρον, ημίν   παρεχομένη    σεπτώς,   χαρίσματα    ένθεα.

Agia Ligeri, Neo-martyr or Chiopolitis

Agia Neomartis Lygeri Chiopolitis was born in the early 19th century in the village of Anavatos in Chios. She was brought up with the threads of our Orthodox faith while being distinguished for her psychosomatic beauty, which caused the erotic attraction of the Turkish tyrant. Despite his promises and pressures for wealth and values, the full-fledged Lygeris remained firm in her faith and refused to marry Agarenos. On September 6, 1822, the day of the celebration of the Anavatos of Chios by the Archangel Michael the Chanaan miracle, the followers of the Turkish tyrant arrived in the village.

Then, in the midst of the disturbance, they ruthlessly grabbed her, despite her refusal, to lead her away. Along the way, Lygeri embraced a tree with all her might, proclaiming in earnest that she would not refuse Christ. Then a follower decapitated her and, with her honor, left for Elinda Beach, where the Turkish tyrant waited. From the blood of the martyred neo-martyr her mother carved three crosses on the adjacent rocks, one of which has survived to this day.
