Οι Άγιοι Τρόφιμος, Σαββάτιος και Δορυμέδων

Μαρτύρησαν  επί  βασιλέως   Πρόβου   και  διοικητού  Αντιοχείας  Ηλιοδώρου   (278   μ.Χ.).

Όταν   λοιπόν   ο   Τρόφιμος   με   τον   Σαββάτιο    βρέθηκαν    στην  Αντιόχεια    και   είδαν   τα   πολυποίκιλα   αμαρτωλά    όργια   που γίνονταν   προς   τιμήν   του   Απόλλωνα,  δε  συγκρατήθηκαν  και  αποδοκίμασαν    δημόσια   την   αμαρτωλή    αυτή    παραφροσύνη.

Βέβαια, γρήγορα συνελήφθησαν και οδηγήθηκαν στο δικαστήριο. Θαρραλέα   δήλωσαν   πως   είναι   χριστιανοί. Τότε ο ηγεμόνας Ηλιόδωρος   διέταξε    και   τους   μαστίγωσαν    ανελέητα.   Τόσο,   που    οι   σάρκες   τους   κόβονταν   κομμάτια.    Εκεί    ο    Σαββάτιος    άφησε  την    τελευταία    του    πνοή.

Ο  δε   Τρόφιμος    οδηγήθηκε    σε   άλλο   σκληρότερο    ηγεμόνα,    τον Διονύσιο   Περώννιο.  Αυτός,  αφού  τον  έγδαρε με  σιδερένια    νύχια,  μισοπεθαμένο    τον   έριξε   στην    φυλακή.   Εκεί    τον   επισκέφθηκε κάποιος, βουλευτής, ο Δορυμέδων, που είδε το μαρτύριό του και στερεώθηκε   στην   πίστη   του   Χριστού.    Όταν   το   έμαθε   αυτό    ο ηγεμόνας,    βασάνισε   σκληρά   τον   Δορυμέδοντα.   Έπειτα,     έριξε    και τους   δυο   τροφή    στα   θηρία, μέσα   στο   αμφιθέατρο.   Αλλά    η  πεινασμένη    αρκούδα    και    η     αιμοβόρα    λεοπάρδαλη    στάθηκαν στα    πόδια   τους   σαν    ήμερα    αρνιά. Το  ίδιο και  το  αγριεμένο λιοντάρι    που    ελευθέρωσαν    αργότερα.

Για    να   πληρωθεί    έτσι    ο   λόγος    του   Θεού:    «οι   δια   πίστεως... έφραξαν    στόματα   λεόντων».   Αυτοί,   δηλαδή    οι    Άγιοι,    επειδή είχαν   μεγάλη   και   συνειδητή     πίστη,   βούλωσαν  και  έφραξαν στόματα    λιονταριών.

Όταν    λοιπόν    είδαν    ότι    δεν    τους    άγγιξαν    τα     θηρία,    αμέσως  οι    δήμιοι     τους    αποκεφάλισαν.

Την    ακαθαίρετον, Τριάδος δύναμιν, ανθηφορήσαντες, Μάρτυρες  ένδοξοι, εναπετέματε    στερρώς, την άκανθαν   της   απάτης,   Τρόφιμε μακάριε, Εκκλησίας  εντρύφημα, Σαββάτιε πάνσοφε,  Αθλητών  εγκαλλώπισμα,    και δόξα ευσεβών Δορυμέδον·  όθεν  υμάς   ανευφημούμεν.

Ως   Αθλητών   εδραίωμα,   και   ευσεβείας   έρεισμα,   η    Εκκλησία     τιμά και   γεραίρει   σου,   την    φωτοφόρον    άθλησιν,   παναοίδιμε   μάκαρ, Αθλητά   γενναιόφρον, ένδοξε   Τρόφιμε, συν  τοις   συνάθλοις    σου, ιλασμόν    εξαιτούντων,    ημίν    και    συγχώρησιν.

Δόξη    λαμπρυθέντες    Τριαδική, Τρόφιμος  ο  θείος,    Δορυμέδων   ο  ευκλεής,    συν    τω    Σαββατίω,   μαρτυρικοίς    αγώσι,  της   πίστεως    το  κάλλος,    ως   λύχνοι    έφαναν.

And Trophimus was led to another tougher ruler, Dionysius Peronios. After throwing him on iron nails, he half-thrown him into prison. There he was visited by a member of parliament, Dorimedon, who saw his martyrdom and was firmly established in the faith of Christ. When the ruler heard this, he severely tortured Dormimedon. He then threw both of them food into the beast inside the amphitheater. But the hungry bear and the bloodthirsty leopard stood on their feet like day lambs. So did the wild lion that they released later.

To fulfill the word of God, "the faithful ones ... have spoken the mouths of lions." These, that is, the Saints, because they had great and conscious faith, shut up and uttered lions' mouths.

So when they saw that the beasts were not touching them, the executioners immediately beheaded them.
