Η Αγία Αγνή η Μάρτυς

Η  Αγία Μάρτυς Αγνή καταγόταν από  τη Ρώμη  και από  γενεά λαμπρή  και  ένδοξη. Επειδή ζούσε μία ζωή αγνή και καθαρή, δηλαδή ήταν πραγματικά αυτό  που  δήλωνε το  όνομά της, αγνή, πολλές  γυναίκες  την  θαύμαζαν και πήγαιναν   κοντά  της.   Τότε  η Αγία   εύρισκε   την ευκαιρία   και   τις   δίδασκε  την   Χριστιανική   αλήθεια   και   τις προέτρεπε  να   πιστέψουν   στον   Χριστό,   ως   τον   μόνο   Αληθινό    Θεό  και    Αυτόν   μόνο   να   λατρεύουν.

Οι  δραστηριότητες   αυτές   της   Αγίας   Αγνής   έφθασαν   στα   αυτιά   του   ειδωλολάτρη   άρχοντα.   Εκείνος   εξοργίσθηκε   πολύ   και   διέταξε να τη συλλάβουν αμέσως. Μόλις την οδήγησαν μπροστά του, την προέτρεψε  να θυσιάσει στα είδωλα, αλλιώς θα την παραδώσει  σε  πορνείο.   Εκείνη  όμως αρνήθηκε κατηγορηματικά, λέγοντάς   του  :«Ούτε στους   θεούς   σου   θα θυσιάσω, ούτε με  ενδιαφέρει το  άν θα με παραδώσεις σε πορνείο. Πιστεύω με  βεβαιότητα  ότι  ο  Θεός μου   θα   με διασώσει   από    μία   τέτοια    ατίμωση».

Όταν   άκουσε  αυτά  ο   άρχοντας,   κάλεσε   κάποιον   και   του   παρέδωσε  την   Αγία   Αγνή    με  εντολή  να   την   διαπομπεύσει    στην πόλη.   Εκείνος   εκτέλεσε   την   εντολή  του   άρχοντα    κατά   γράμμα και  στην   συνέχεια   οδήγησε   την   Αγία   στο   εργαστήριο   του   Σατανά,   στο   πορνείο.   Οποιοσδήποτε   όμως   πλησίαζε   έχανε   αμέσως  την    σαρκική   επιθυμία    και γινόταν   τόσο   ψυχρός,   λες    και  ήταν  νεκρός.   Αλλά  και  οι βλέποντες εκείνο  το  θέαμα,   εβόησαν  όλοι τους   με   μια   φωνή:   «Μεγάλη   η   δύναμη   του   Χριστού».

Τότε   ο   άρχοντας  την   ρώτησε  πως   συνέβη  αυτό.   Η  Αγία   του απάντησε:   «Ο  Κύριός   μου   και   Θεός  μου   απέστειλε  τον   Άγγελό Του   και   με   προστάτευσε   από   την   ατίμωση».        
Τότε   ο    άρχοντας   διέταξε   να  κάψουν  στο  πυρ   την   Αγία.   Αφού, λοιπόν, η Αγνή  σφράγισε  πρώτα τον εαυτό της με το σχήμα  του  Σταυρού, μπήκε με θάρρος στη μέση της φωτιάς. Και προσευχόμενη μαρτύρησε   για  τον  Χριστό (303 – 305 μ.Χ.).   Μόλις   έσβησε   η   φωτιά, κάποιοι   Χριστιανοί  πήραν κρυφά το τίμιο λείψανό της  και  το  ενταφίασαν   με   τιμές,   δοξάζοντας   τον   Θεό.

Φερωνύμως  αγνείας   ώφθης  κειμήλιον,   και   ανδρικώς   ηγωνίσω   υπέρ της   δόξης   Χριστού,  καλλιπάρθενε σεμνή Αγνή πανεύφημε·  ως   γαρ θυσία   καθαρά,   προσενήνεξαι   αυτώ,  τελέσασα    τον  αγώνα,  δια  πυρός    Αθληφόρε, και  του  εχθρού  την  πλάνην  έφλεξας.

Παρθενίας λάμπουσα, μαρμαρυγαίς  ακηράτοις, μαρτυρίου ήνυσας, περιφανώς   τους   αγώνας· πίστει  γαρ,  και  θείω   έρωτι   φλεγομένη,  ήνεγκας, πυρός  την  καύσιν  ανδρειοφρόνως,  και  προς  φως  της  άνω δόξης,  Αγνή   θεόφρον,    χαίρουσα    έδραμες.

Μεγαλυνάριον.
Χαίροις  της  αγνείας  άνθος  τερπνόν,  Αγνή   Αθληφόρε,  νύμφη  άμωμε του   Χριστού·  χαίροις  η  ως  θύμα, Κυρίω   προσαχθείσα,  δια  πυρός  τελέσασα    τον   αγώνά   σου.

Agia Agni or Marty

But she denied it categorically, saying to him: "Neither will I sacrifice to your gods, nor do I care if you will deliver me to a brothel. I believe with certainty that my God will save me from such a disgrace. "

When the lord heard this, he called someone and handed over to Agia Agni with a mandate to intercede in the city. He executed the command of the lord to the letter and then led the Saint to Satan's lab at the porch. But anyone who approached immediately lost his fleshly desire and became so chilly, as if he were dead. But even those who saw that spectacle, all of them all heard one voice: "Great power of Christ."

Then the lord asked her how this happened. The Saint replied: "My Lord and God sent me His Angel and protected me from dishonesty."

Then the prince ordered the Holy Fire to be burnt to the fire. So after Agni first stamped herself in the shape of the Cross, she courageously entered the middle of the fire. And praying prayed for Christ (303-305 AD). As soon as the fire went out, some Christians secretly took their honest relic and buried it with honors, glorifying God.
