Ο Άγιος Κρήσκης ο Μάρτυρας

Ο Άγιος Μάρτυς Κρήσκης καταγόταν από τα Μύρα της Λυκίας. Προερχόταν από ένδοξη και περιφανή γενεά και  ανατράφηκε  με  ευσέβεια.   Σε   μεγάλη  ηλικία  ευρισκόμενος πλέον και βλέποντας πολλούς να προσκυνούν τα είδωλα, εισήλθε στο μέσο  αυτών  συμβουλεύοντάς  τους  να απομακρυνθούν  από  την  πλάνη  και    να προσέλθουν  στον  Χριστό  για  να   σωθούν.  Η   φλόγα    της   πίστεως  του   έδωσε   τη    δύναμη    της    νεότητας    και    του   αγώνος.       
Ο  ηγεμόνας,   όταν   έμαθε  τι   είχε  συμβεί,  τον  συνέλαβε  και  τον  οδήγησε   μπροστά   του,   και    εκεί    τον   ρώτησε    για    το    γένος,    την  πατρίδα    και   το    όνομά   του.   Ο   Άγιος   όμως   δεν   έλεγε  τίποτε  άλλο  παρά  μόνο  ότι  είναι  Χριστιανός.   Ο    ηγεμόνας    τότε  του  πρότεινε    να  θυσιάσει    στους    θεούς    μόνο    εξωτερικά,  να   προσκυνά    δε    τον  Θεό στην  ψυχή  του.  Ο  Άγιος  όμως  δεν  αποδέχθηκε μία  τέτοια   πρόταση   και    ομολόγησε    με    μεγάλη    φωνή  το    Όνομα    του    Χριστού,   ελέγχοντας   και   περιφρονώντας   τα είδωλα. Έτσι,  ακολούθησε  το  μαρτύριο. Τον   κρέμασαν   σε   ξύλο,   τον έγδαραν και με αναμμένες δάδες του κατέκαψαν τα πλευρά. Στην  συνέχεια,  αφού  τον κατέβασαν  από  το  ξύλο,   τον   εξανάγκαζαν   να θυσιάσει   στα   είδωλα.  Επειδή   όμως   και  πάλι   αρνήθηκε,  οι  δήμιοι  άναψαν   φωτιά    και  τον    έριξαν  μέσα  σε  αυτή,  και  έτσι   παρέδωσε  την    ψυχή    του    προς    τον   Θεό.

Τω της  πίστεως  ζήλω   πτερωθείς  την διάνοιαν,  προς  αθλητικάς  αριστείας  ανδρικώς   προσεχώρησας,   και   ώφθης   του   Σωτήρος κοινωνός,  βασάνους   υπέρ   φύσιν   ενεγκών·   δια   τούτο  εδοξάσθης παρά   Θεού,   Κρήσκη   θεομακάριστε.  Δόξα   τω   δεδωκότι   σοι   ισχύν, δόξα   τω   σε   στεφανώσαντι,   δόξα  τω  ενεργούντι   δια  σου,  πάσιν  ιάματα.

Ει  και  εν  γήρᾳ  εδέξω  την  άθλησιν,    αλλά    νεάζον  εκτήσω  το  φρόνημα,  και  την   έπαρσιν   του   εχθρού,   καθείλες  στερρώς,   συνεργόν   εν     αγώσι    τον  Λόγον  κτησάμενος·   ού   το    πάθος  δοξάσας,    της    τούτου    εγέρσεως,    μέτοχος  ώφθης, ω  Κρήσκη  πολύαθλε.

Μεγαλυνάριον.
Θάρσους  ών  ανάπλεως  ευσεβούς,   Κρήσκη   διελέγχεις,   των   τυράννων το   ασεβές,   και   ώσπερ  θυσία,   τερπνή   Χριστώ   ετύθης,   δια   πυρός   το   τέλος,   δεχθείς    το   άγιον.

Saint Kresky the Witness

Saint Martyr Christian was descended from Myrrh of Lycia. It came from a glorious and surprising generation and was raised with piety. In old age, and seeing many worship the idols, he entered into the midst of them, advising them to move away from deceit and come to Christ to be saved. The flame of faith gave him the strength of youth and struggle.

The ruler, when he learned what had happened, captured him and led him in front of him, and there he asked him about his gender, his homeland and his name. The saint, however, said nothing but that he was a Christian. The ruler then offered him to sacrifice to the gods only externally, to worship God in his soul. But the Saint did not accept such a sentence and admitted with great voice the Name of Christ, controlling and despising the idols. So he followed the martyrdom. They hung him in wood, his ointment and with his torches lit on the sides. Then, after they were taken down by the wood, they forced him to sacrifice to the idols. But because he refused again, the executioners lit up fire and threw him into it, and so he delivered his soul to God.

By faith, I endure the wisdom, to the athletic excellency of a man that has come to you, and you are angry with the Savior of the common, cruel to the nature of the uninitiated; for this you have been praised by God, Thank you so much for your strength, glory to the crown, glory acting for you, all good moves.

I fully accept the sport, but I am exalted of the wisdom, and the presence of the enemy, which is in the heart of the Lord, who is in the conquest of the Logos; the passion of glory, of that exaltation;

Tarsus, who is pious, Christ, you call, the tyrants the wicked, and at the sacrifice, the tertiary Christ, you endured, by fire, finally, accepting the saint.
