He lived upon the kings of
Solomon and Jeroboam, and came from Shilom. To him are attributed the reasons,
"that were spoken in the name of the Lord" to Solomon, when he was
building the temple in Jerusalem.
That is when God would
carry on his own face what he had announced to his father David, when he would,
of course, walk on His teachings and perform His judgments and keep all His
commandments. But when Solomon once deviated from the divine way, through the
Achaia the Lord once again informed him that he would punish him by doing
pieces of his kingdom.
Then the prophet was sent
to Jeroboam, the son of the widow Seraph. As soon as he met him, outside
Jerusalem, he took his new himation and cut it into twelve pieces. Jeroboam
watched this act of the prophet astonished. He gave him ten pieces and told him
that after Solomon's death, God would divide his kingdom to give the ten tribes
to the authority of Jeroboam.
After prophesying Achaia,
they died peacefully and buried him near the Oak Hill.
