Ανακομιδή Τιμίων Λειψάνων Αγίου Ιερομάρτυρος Ιγνατίου του Θεοφόρου

Ο Άγιος Ιερομάρτυς Ιγνάτιος († 20 Δεκεμβρίου) ήταν διάδοχος των Αποστόλων    και    χρημάτισε   δεύτερος   Επίσκοπος  Αντιοχείας.   Υπήρξε,   μαζί   με   τον Επίσκοπο της Εκκλησίας  της Σμύρνης Πολύκαρπο, μαθητής  του Ευαγγελιστού Ιωάννου του Θεολόγου. Μαρτύρησε επί αυτοκράτορος Τραϊανού (98 – 117 μ.Χ.) στη Ρώμη, κατασπαραχθεὶς   από   τα   θηρία.  
Μετά  το  φρικτό  μαρτύριο   του   Αγίου,  κάποιοι   Χριστιανοί    μάζεψαν  από τον ιππόδρομο τα εναπομείναντα άγια λείψανά του και  τα μετέφεραν  στην    Αντιόχεια.   Η    Σύναξη    αυτού  ετελείτο  στην Μεγάλη    Εκκλησία.

Ως  θησαυρόν  πλουτοποιών δωρημάτων, την  των λειψάνων σου μυρίπνοον θήκην, τη  ποίμνη σου μετήγαγον  εκ  Ῥώμης   ευσεβώς· ήσπερ   την  επάνοδον,  εορτάζοντες πόθω,   χάριν αρυόμεθα, πολλαπλών  ιαμάτων,  τους  σους  αγώνας   μέλποντες   αεί,   Ιερομάρτυς  Ιγνάτιε  ένδοξε.

Εξ  Εῴας σήμερον εξανατείλας, και την κτίσιν άπασαν, καταλαμπρύνας  διδαχαίς,  τω μαρτυρίω  κεκόσμηται,   ο   θεοφόρος   και  θείος  Ιγνάτιος.

Χάριν αναβλύζει  οία πηγή, δωρεών  αύλων,  η  ση  θήκη  η  ευαγής,  και σωμάτων  πάθη, και καρδιών  τους  σπίλους,  αεί ανακαθαίρει,  Πάτερ Ιγνάτιε.

Relief of the Holy Relics of the Holy Martyr Ignatius of the Godfather

Saint Ignatius († 20 December) was the successor of the Apostles and served as Second Bishop of Antioch. He was, together with the Bishop of the Church of Smyrna, Polykarpos, a student of the Evangelist John the Theologian. He testified to Emperor Trajan (98-117 AD) in Rome, being beaten by the beasts.

After the terrible martyrdom of the Saint, some Christians gathered from the hippodrome its remaining holy relics and brought them to Antioch. This Assembly was in the Great Church.
