Ο Άγιος Υπάτιος ο Ιερομάρτυρας Επίσκοπος Γαγγρών

Ο Άγιος  Ιερομάρτυς  Υπάτιος   ήταν   Επίσκοπος   Γαγγρών   κατά   τους  χρόνους   του   αυτοκράτορος   Μεγάλου   Κωνσταντίνου   και   έλαβε μέρος   στην   Α’   Οικουμενική  Σύνοδο,  η  οποία  συνήλθε  το  έτος   325 μ.Χ.,   στη    Νίκαια   της   Βιθυνίας.   Διακρίθηκε   για   την   πιστότητά   του    στα    ορθόδοξα  δόγματα  και    την   σφοδρή   πολεμική   του    κατά των  δυσσεβών   αιρετικών   και   μάλιστα  των   Αρειανών.   Η   στάση   του   αυτή   εξήγειρε  τους   πληγέντες    Νοβατιανούς,   οι   οποίοι  ζητούσαν  με  κάθε  τόπο  την  εξόντωσή  του.  Για  τον  σκοπό  αυτό  το έτος   326   μ.Χ. πλήρωσαν κάποιους  ειδωλολάτρες, οι  οποίοι  σε  κρημνώδη   περιοχή  επιτέθηκαν  κατά  του  Αγίου  με  ξύλα  και  πέτρες  και  τον  άφησαν   μισοπεθαμένο. Πριν   ξεψυχήσει,   μία  εκ   των φανατικών   αιρετικών   γυναικών    τον    θανάτωσε    δια    λίθου.
Έτσι   ο  Άγιος  Υπάτιος   μαρτύρησε   και   κληρονόμησε   την   Βασιλεία  της   Τριαδικής   Θεότητος.

Οσίως  ιέρευσας, τω επί πάντων  Θεώ,  και  πρόεδρος  ένθεος, της  Εκκλησίας   Γαγγρών,   εδείχθης  Υπάτιε·  όθεν  θαυματουργίαις, διαλάμπων  ποικίλαις,   σύνθρονον  τω  Τεκόντι,  τον  Υιόν  ωμολόγεις,  δι' όν    και    χαίρων    ήθλησας,   Ιερομάρτυς  ένδοξε.

Κοντάκιον.   Ήχος   πλ. β’.   Την   υπέρ   ημών.       
Την ζωοποιόν, τελέσας  ιερουργίαν, και των δωρεών, το τάλαντον  επαύξησας, ως θυσία προσήχθης, και κάρπωμα  ένθεον,   δι’   αθλήσεως Υπάτιε,   τω    δοξάσαντι    τον   βίον σου,  τοις  αρρήτοις  Πάτερ  θαύμασιν.    Αυτόν   δυσώπει    αεί,    υπέρ  πάντων  ημών.

Μεγαλυνάριον.
Ομοουσιότητος του Πατρός, και Υιού  παμμάκαρ,  χρηματίζων κήρυξ λαμπρός,   αθλήσει   σφραγίζεις,  τον θαυμαστόν  σου  βίον,  Υπάτιε  θεόφρον,   Γαγγρών   ο  πρόεδρος.

Saint Hypati the Holy Martyr Bishop of Gangers
