Οι Άγιοι Αββάδες Μαύροι οι εν τη μονή Αγίου Σάββα αναιρεθέντες

Οι    Άγιοι   αυτοί    Πατέρες  ασκήτευαν  στη  Λαύρα  του    Αγίου   Σάββα,  στην  περιοχή  των Ιεροσολύμων και είχαν συγκεντρωθεί εκεί  από διάφορα μέρη. Όμως   Άραβες   λῃστές   επιτέθηκαν   κατά   της   μονής και   συνέλαβαν   τους   Πατέρες   αυτής,   που   δεν   μπόρεσαν   ή   δεν θέλησαν   να   φύγουν.   Και   αφού   τους   βασάνισαν   με   διάφορους τρόπους,   για   να υποδείξουν  στους  λῃστές τους κρυμμένους  θησαυρούς  της  μονής,  τους  θανάτωσαν.   Άλλους    τους  αποκεφάλισαν,  άλλους  τους  τεμάχισαν και  άλλους  τους  κατατρύπησαν   με   τα   ξίφη τους. Και με αυτόν τον τρόπο, ευχαριστώντας  τον   Θεό   και    προσευχόμενοι,   παρέδωσαν    οι    Άγιοι τις   μακάριες   ψυχές   τους    στον   Κύριο,    απολαμβάνοντας  την  αιώνια  ζωή της Βασιλείας των  Ουρανών, για την   οποία    υπέμειναν πρόθυμα   τους   μακρούς  αγώνες  της  ασκήσεως  και το   μαρτύριο   της επίπονης   αθλήσεως.   
Την    φρικτή  εκείνη  σφαγή  περιέγραψαν,  ο  Όσιος Στέφανος ο  Σαββαΐτης († 13 Ιουλίου), ο  ανεψιός  του  Οσίου  Ιωάννου του Δαμασκηνού  και  ο  Όσιος  Αντίοχος   ο  Πάνδεκτος   († 24  Δεκεμβρίου).
Μεταξύ    των    αγίων  Αββάδων    αναφέρεται    και    ο  Όσιος Θεόκτιστος.

Ως   του    Σωτήρος   αγιόλεκτοι   άρνες,   εξωρμημένοι  εκ  χωρών  διαφόρων, τη  Ποίμνη συνεδράμετε  Σάββα  του  σοφού·   όθεν θανατούμενοι,  απηνεία βαρβάρων, χαίροντες   ανήλθετε, προς ουράνιον  μάνδραν, καθάπερ  Όσιοι  και  Αθληταί,   εκδυσωπούντες,   υπέρ  των  ψυχών   ημών.

Την  των Οσίων θεόληπτον  συνοδείαν, ταις των Μαρτύρων διαλάμπουσαν  ακτίσι, πάντες τοις άσμασι στεφανώσωμεν, τους τω Χριστώ   τυθέντας,   οίαπερ θεία σφάγια· αυτούς γαρ ο Λόγος προσεδέξατο.

Μεγαλυνάριον.
Αίμασιν  οικείοις μαρτυρικώς, τους σαυτών χιτώνας, πορφυρώσαντες ιερώς, προς   υπερκοσμίους,   ανήλθετε   επαύλεις,   φαιδρώς κεκοσμημένοι,   Πατέρες    Όσιοι.

These Holy Fathers practiced at the Lavra of Saint Savva, in the Jerusalem region, and had gathered there from various places. But Arab soldiers attacked the monastery and arrested their Fathers, who could not or did not want to leave. And having tortured them in various ways, to indicate to their refugees the hidden treasures of the monastery, they killed them. Others have unsecured them, others have cut them off, and others have hacked them with their swords. And in this way, by thanking God and praying, the saints handed over their blessed souls to the Lord, enjoying the eternal life of the Kingdom of Heaven, for which they gladly endured the long struggles of the exercise and the martyrdom of arduous athletics.

The horrible slaughter described, Saint Stephen the Sabbath († 13 July), the nephew of St. John of Damascus and Saint Antiochus the Pisidakos († 24 December).

Among the saints Abbas is mentioned the Holy Theocatist.
